Sarangkot, the Australian Base camp to Dhampus is a one-night and two-day trek. This hike is also known as the best sunrise and sunset hike in Pokhara. Moreover, this hike allows you to get a glimpse of the snow-capped mountains throughout the hike. This trek is comparatively short and easier than other popular long treks like Annapurna Base Camp Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, etc.

We wake up to another beautiful sunrise that is simply outstanding. We have our breakfast as we enjoy the beautiful view. We’ll then hike towards the village of Dhampus which is about a 1.5-hour hike.
We will be greeted with splendid scenery of villages, vegetation, and mountains along the way. The village of Dhampus itself is situated at a height of 1694m.
Upon reaching Dhampus, we take a rest and relax for a while. After that, we then hike downhill for about 2 hours until we reach Phedi. From there, we get on our private bus back to Pokhara which takes about half an hour.

Had a great experience with Ananda in this 2d/1n hike. The hike-up takes up 3 to 4 hours on day one, low difficulty level. Ananda is a knowledgeable n experienced guide, he knew most of the fauna along the way n the tracks very well. He is also multilingual, humorous, helpful n attentive. He even offered to assist to carry mu backpack when the path is steep up. I got to know more on Nepalese livelihood via this hike. The Annapurna alps view at the Base camp especially during dawn n dusk are simply breathtaking... more so with Ananda as the skilled photographer. Thanks Ananda for the memorable trips
While this short trek stays at safe lower altitudes (below 2,100 m / 6,890 ft) where Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is not a risk, our guides prioritize proper walking pace, hydration, and footing—especially on stone-paved steps and forest trails. Guides conduct continuous assessments of trail conditions, heat/hydration levels, and individual guest comfort throughout the walk.
Given the close proximity to Pokhara, emergency assistance and road transport access points are readily available along the trail. In the event of illness, severe fatigue, or unexpected injury, our team quickly arranges land transportation from nearby road heads or coordinates immediate medical assistance with our Pokhara operations base and local medical facilities.
All hikers are strongly advised to hold travel insurance covering general medical treatment, emergency transport, and outdoor activities/hiking in Nepal. Having valid insurance ensures seamless logistical support and peace of mind during your time on the trail.
