OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS
Mardi Himal Peak climbing is one of the least explored and least climbed peaks that has yet to be brought to light among the people. A peak of 5555 meters altitude, Mardi Himal is situated beside the grand Mt. Machhapuchhre and offers a beginner's experience for climbers who have just initiated their peak climbing journey. The climbing doesn't necessitate any technical knowledge and training, but a basic knowledge of handling tools and kits required for climbing will be fine. Moreover, Mardi Peak was categorized as a climbing peak by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
The trails leading up to Mardi Base Camp are full of natural beauties, culturally enriched villages, lush vegetation, and astounding vistas of the high mountains of the Annapurna range. The summit of Mardi Peak grants an opportunity to feast on the grand and majestic views of the Himalayas of the Annapurna region, such as Annapurna I-III, Gangapurna, Mt. Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Fang Peak, Him Chuli, Singu Chuli, and other peaks.
Mardi Himal Trek and Mardi Peak climbing are hardly known among trekkers and mountaineers, so the routes and the tea houses are usually less crowded. Furthermore, both trekking and climbing the Mardi Himal are feasible for climbers with no prior experience in trekking or climbing.
Similarly, the refreshing and enthralling view of the landscapes and high Himalayas along the way, and culturally and traditionally embellished villages and settlements on the way to base camp, have added more to its charm and appeal. As per the unique and enchanting scenery offered by the Mardi Peak climbing, it is destined to become one of the most renowned climbing peaks in the Annapurna Conservation Area.
Moreover, we don't need to pay for any climbing permits or local fees. Unlike any other climbing peaks in Nepal, the trek and climb to the Mardi Himal peak don't demand a climbing fee. However, we need an ACAP permit and TIMS for our entry to the Annapurna Conservation Area.

After practising the usage of kits, we will spend the night and wait for the auspicious day to mount Mardi Peak.
Today is the day, we have been keenly and passively waiting for so, we will start our climb very early in the morning around 2 am. After hiking along the sandy areas, steep paths, and rocky mountains, and passing through Machhapuchhre glacier, we will reach the top of the peak situated at an altitude of 5587 meters. The climb is a bit technical so, it is very vital to listen to the other experienced guide and climbers. A simple mistake might put ourselves and the whole team in danger.
Once steeping onto the summit, we will witness a mind-boggling and soul-stirring vista of the mountains such as Gangapurna, Lamjung Himal, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhre, and many other peaks from the top. Same as our arrival in Pokhara, we have two options for our journey to the capital. The drive on a tourist bus is fairly cheaper and we get to enjoy the scenery along the way whereas we will have plenty of spare time if we take a flight to the capital.
Our office representative will come to your hotel in a private car to pick you up. After that, we will drop you off at the airport and wave a final goodbye to you.
Spring (Mar-May) and Autumn (Sep-Nov) are the best seasons to climb Mardi Himal Peak - book early to secure your permit and guide.
Mardi Himal doesn't demand technical climbing skills, making it a great first summit. Even so, climbing solo is highly risky, and our experienced guides and porters are essential for navigating the route safely, especially the tented night at base camp.
Spring and Autumn offer the clearest, safest conditions for this climb. Winter and monsoon bring freezing temperatures and unpredictable, fast-changing weather in the high Himalayas, so we schedule and, if needed, adjust departures around the safest weather windows.
Even though Mardi Himal is beginner-friendly, travel insurance covering trekking and emergency evacuation up to at least 6,000 m is mandatory. Please arrange your policy before departure and share the details with us so we can act quickly in case of an emergency.
Secure the Mardi Himal Peak Climb for 2026/2027 before the seat gets fully booked.
Mardi Himal Peak Climbing combines trekking through the quieter side of the Annapurna region with a technical climb toward Mardi Himal. The route passes through rhododendron forests, traditional villages and high mountain terrain before reaching the peak area, with close views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Mardi Himal.
Mardi Himal Peak Climbing is a challenging high-altitude adventure rather than a regular trekking route. The approach trek is manageable for fit trekkers, but the summit section requires technical climbing skills, good acclimatization and the ability to move safely on steep mountain terrain.
Previous high-altitude trekking experience is strongly recommended. You should be comfortable walking for several hours at altitude and ideally have some experience using crampons, an ice axe, harness and other basic mountaineering equipment.
The approach passes through villages where you can experience traditional Gurung and Magar communities, local farming practices and mountain hospitality. The lower sections also provide opportunities to experience everyday village life before the landscape changes into alpine terrain.
You need suitable high-altitude trekking clothing plus technical climbing equipment such as mountaineering boots, crampons, ice axe, climbing harness, helmet, ascender and carabiners. A properly rated sleeping bag, warm down jacket, waterproof layers, gloves and head protection are also essential.
Yes. Technical climbing equipment can generally be rented or purchased in Kathmandu. Equipment should be checked carefully before departure, particularly climbing boots, crampons and harnesses, because poor fit can become a serious problem during the summit attempt.
Budget separately for personal climbing gear, travel insurance, evacuation coverage, snacks and drinks, hot showers, Wi-Fi, charging, laundry, personal expenses and tips. Check the current package inclusions carefully because expedition costs can vary depending on group size and services.
Yes. A private climbing itinerary can be arranged around your preferred travel dates, experience level and group size. The schedule may also need to remain flexible because summit attempts depend on weather, snow conditions and the team's acclimatization.
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are generally the best periods for Mardi Himal Peak Climbing. These seasons usually offer better visibility and more stable mountain conditions. Winter can bring heavy snow and extreme cold at higher elevations, while monsoon brings rain and cloud at lower elevations.
Yes. Altitude becomes an important consideration as the route gains elevation, particularly during the climbing section. A gradual ascent, proper acclimatization, adequate hydration and a conservative approach to the summit are essential. Any symptoms such as persistent headache, nausea, dizziness, unusual fatigue or loss of coordination should be reported to your guide immediately.
Yes. Comprehensive insurance is strongly recommended and should specifically cover high-altitude mountaineering, emergency medical treatment and helicopter evacuation at the maximum altitude of your itinerary. Check the policy wording before purchasing because standard trekking insurance may exclude climbing activities.
The required documentation depends on the exact climbing itinerary and current Nepal government regulations. The expedition operator arranges the applicable trekking and climbing permits before departure and confirms the current requirements with you during booking.
The journey normally begins in Pokhara, followed by road transportation to the selected trailhead. From there, the approach to Mardi Himal is completed on foot through the Annapurna foothills and high-altitude trekking terrain.
The approach trek uses local teahouses and lodges, while the higher climbing section may require camping depending on the selected itinerary and current conditions. Facilities become increasingly basic as you move above the established villages.
Teahouses provide meals such as Dal Bhat, noodles, soups, rice, pasta, potatoes, eggs and Tibetan-style breads. During camping sections, the expedition kitchen prepares meals for the climbing team. Carrying high-energy snacks such as chocolate, nuts and energy bars is also useful.
Mobile reception and Wi-Fi are available in some lower villages but become unreliable as you gain altitude. You should not depend on continuous connectivity during the climbing section. Your guide or expedition team should be your primary source of communication and safety support.
The route is particularly known for its close views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Mardi Himal, along with other peaks of the Annapurna range. Lower sections pass through rhododendron forests and diverse Himalayan landscapes, while the upper route opens into alpine terrain.
