Helicopter Flight to North Annapurna Base Camp: Board the helicopter and take off from Pokhara (822 m) heading north in 25–30 minutes. You’ll fly above Pokhara’s cityscape and the Seti Gorge, then over rolling hills and villages. En route, admire aerial views of Astam and Dhampus villages and the popular Australian Camp area. The helicopter then passes near Ghandruk and the ridge of Ghorepani/Poon Hill, offering glimpses of the Kali Gandaki valley. As we fly further, we enter a deep mountain gorge by Narchyang village, leading up towards the sacred Panchakunda Lakes nestled below Annapurna. All along, the Himalayan panorama unfolds outside your window. You’ll see the peaks of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) behind you, and approaching ahead the massive walls of Annapurna I and Nilgiri. After approximately 25 minutes of flight, the helicopter approaches the isolated North Annapurna Base Camp.
Landing at North Annapurna Base Camp (~4,150–4,200 m): Touch down at the North Annapurna Base Camp helipad, a remote spot below Annapurna I’s north face. You’ll have 15–20 minutes on the ground to explore. Step out to an incredible 360° vista: Annapurna I, Nilgiri Himal and other peaks encircling the basin. Take a short walk around the helipad area to gaze at the turquoise glacial pools (if visible) and rugged glacier icefalls.
