Mohan founded North Nepal Trek in 2015, and this 6 Night 7 Days Bhutan itinerary has become one of our most requested cultural tours — it gives travelers real breathing room to explore beyond Thimphu and Paro. Our guide Jeewan Tamang has led this exact route many times, from the Punakha valley to the hike up to Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest Monastery), and he has a gift for pacing the week so guests never feel rushed through the dzongs and monasteries.
On the second day of our travel Bhutan tours, we will explore important landmarks such as Monasteries and Dzongs of the capital city. After a light breakfast, we will walk to Buddha Point. The statue of Buddha Dordenma lies inside Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park in the backdrop of a beautiful valley. It's one of the biggest statues of Buddha which intertwines the cultural and religious aspects of Bhutan.

This museum will illustrate the production of traditional dresses, rice wines, and houses with rammed earth. Likewise, there are traditional pots, murals, and paintings.
We will explore the National Library, Textile Museum, Jungshi Handmade Paper Factory, and Bhutan Postal Museum. They will help us to gain a deep understanding of Bhutan and their people.
We will end our day by visiting Tashichho Dzong. Tashichho Dzong “Fortress of the great religion” is the beautiful Bhutanese architecture on the western bank of the Wang Chhu River. This marvelous building is composed of huge white walls and intricate designs carved on the pillars and windows. FYI: it does not constrain any nails.
Now it houses both the religious and administrative bodies of Bhutan. Tashichho Dzong also hosts one of the vibrant festivals of Bhutan; Tsechu festival. The festival is dedicated to Guru Rinpoche where monks dance wearing masks and colorful dresses.
Our next tour plan for Bhutan is Punakha; the winter capital of Bhutan. With a light-weight breakfast, we will backpack to Punakha. Reaching Punakha from Thimphu is 2-3 hour ride passing via Dochula Pass. It’s a Himalayan pass above the altitude of 3100m. In winter, it’s covered with snow.
We will stop at Dochula Pass for the panoramic view of the Himalayas and the valley. On clear winter days, you can view Gangkhar Puensum (7570m) mountain. Bhutan's tallest mountain. Along the highway, you will see Druk Wangyal Chortens, 108 memorials built in the memory of dead soldiers. Bhutan hiking tours not only pleases you with its beautiful landscapes but also joyful scenes from the vehicle window.
We will also visit Chimi Lhakhang during our travel Bhutan tours. Chimi Lhakhang also known as the “Temple of Fertility” is one of the revered monasteries by locals. This temple is often visited by couples desiring a child. And bring newborns to name their child as well.
Again it's time for a visit to another Dzong in our travel Bhutan tours. Punakha Dzong. Located in the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu rivers, It is one of the oldest and biggest dzong of the Kingdom. It's the Bhutanese masterpiece in the world of architecture. It's a 6-storey building with high inward sloping walls. Punakha Dzong carries a long history of culture, art, and traditions.
Now it is a house to the monastic body and administrative office of Punakha. It hosts the Punakha festival in February or March in its large courtyard.
At the end of the day, we will walk through the suspension bridge and tour local villages. We will get back to our hotel and enjoy our delicious local dinner at Punakha Hotel.
We will start early our journey to Gangtey with a light-weight breakfast. The ride to Gangety is 2-3 hours from Punakha. On the fourth day of travel Bhutan tours, we will explore Gangtey.

You will walk through large meadows, villages, and Gangteng Monastery.
Ganget Valley is also home to the endangered Balck-Necked Crane. You can get all the necessary information about those endangered birds from the Black Necked Crane Information Centre.
