OVERVIEW & HIGHLIGHTS

Upper Seti River Rafting Overview

Tourism is one of Nepal's main sources of revenue. Every year, thousands of visitors come to try adventure activities like paragliding, bungee jumping, the Zip Flyer, ultralight flights, and trekking. If you're looking for rafting in Pokhara, the Upper Seti is one of the shortest and best river trips in the country. In half a day you'll hit roughly the same number of rapids you'd cover in a full day on other rivers. The Seti flows down from Mt. Annapurna, crashing over rocks along the way before heading south to join the Marsyangdi. Best of all, the put-in is right outside Pokhara, about a half-hour drive from Lakeside.

Upper Seti River Rafting Highlights

  • The thrill of the Grade III-IV white-water rapids.
  • You can spend some quality time with safety kayakers, river rafting guides, and mountain sceneries
  • Everyday departure throughout the year.
  • You can experience an amazing view while rafting.
  • Enjoy a snack after rafting and door-to-door round-trip transfers.

Best Time for Upper Seti River Rafting

The Upper Seti runs year-round, with departures every day. Autumn (September to November) is the most exciting time: the water is high, the rapids are fast and the mountain views are clear.

Spring (March to May) has warmer weather and slightly lower water. Winter trips run with cold, clear water. In the monsoon (June to August) the Seti can rise quickly, and trips go ahead only after the guides check the river on the day.

How Hard is Upper Seti Rafting?

The Upper Seti is a short, action-packed run of about 7 km with continuous Class III–IV rapids, packing into half a day roughly as many rapids as a full day on other rivers. No experience is needed, but you should be reasonably fit and comfortable in water.

The put-in at Hemja is just 30 minutes from Lakeside, so you can raft in the morning and be back in Pokhara for lunch.

What to Wear & Bring for Upper Seti Rafting

  • Quick-dry shorts and a T-shirt or rash vest (no cotton jeans)
  • Sport sandals with straps, or old shoes that can get wet and stay on your feet
  • Swimwear, a towel and a full change of clothes for after the trip
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses with a strap and a cap
  • A small dry bag for valuables; cameras should go in the waterproof barrels provided
  • Any personal medication

Before embarking on the rapids, every trip starts with a thorough safety briefing and a dedicated practice session right at the put-in point in Hemja. Our guides cover essential paddling techniques, commands, and what to do in case of a swim, ensuring everyone feels completely confident and prepared to tackle the waves.
