Best Time for Canyoning in Jalbire

The Jalbire canyoning season runs from April to November, when the water is warm enough to enjoy the slides and pools. Late spring (April to May) and autumn (October to November) are the most comfortable months, with steady water and pleasant weather.

During the peak monsoon (July to August) heavy rain can raise the water quickly, so trips run only after the guides check the canyon on the day. In winter the water is too cold for comfortable canyoning.

How Hard is Canyoning in Jalbire?

Jalbire is one of Nepal's most beginner-friendly canyons and is suitable for families, older travelers and first-timers. The highlights are natural waterslides, small rappels and an optional 12 m cliff jump. Everything else can be done at your own comfort level.

No experience is needed, since your guides teach the techniques on the spot. You should be comfortable in water, and swimming ability is a plus. Trips run for a minimum of two people; a solo booking is possible at a higher price.

What to Wear & Bring for Jalbire Canyoning

  • Swimwear or quick-dry clothes (no cotton jeans)
  • Shoes that grip on wet rock and stay on your feet
  • A towel and a full change of clothes
  • Sunscreen and a cap for the approach walk
  • A waterproof bag or case for your phone
