You will visit Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

The day highlights Newari culture & heritage, reflected in ancient palaces, temples, traditional courtyards, and daily rituals that define the Kathmandu Valley.

Drive west to Pokhara, widely recognized as the tourism capital of Nepal and the best place to visit with friends, family, and couples.

The scenic journey follows the Prithvi Highway and Pokhara–Baglung Highway, passing rivers, terraces, and mid-hill settlements.

After arrival, your guide provides a full tour briefing and preparation, including Jeep safety, altitude adaptation, weather expectations, and logistics for the Upper Mustang restricted area.

DISTANCE 3 hrs hike

Today, we enter Lower Mustang, driving through the dramatic Kali Gandaki Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the world.

You will explore the ancient Kali Gandaki River, a lifeline for the civilization living on the banks of this river. Also sacred to Hindus and Buddhists and historically vital to trans-Himalayan trade between Tibet and Nepal.

An optional trek leads to Titi Lake, offering panoramic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna South. You have to cross the suspension bridge and walk up to the Titi Lake because the road is under construction. The total duration of the hike is around 3 hours. 

Cultural exposure includes the Thakali culture and a scenic stop at Rupse Waterfall, a popular attraction on the road.

Drive north along the historic Kali Gandaki Corridor, also known as the Korala–Kali Gandaki Highway, an ancient trade route connecting to Tibet and China.

Stop at Marpha, a beautiful village rich in its Buddhist heritage and culture. It is famous for its Buddhist monastery and apple orchard. 

We highly recommend that you try their Apple products like Apple pie, Apple sweets, and Apple brandy.

Continue through Kagbeni before reaching Muktinath Temple.

Here you can experience bathing at the 108 water sprouts. These are spiritual rituals for Hindu and Buddhist. Hindus worship the main idol as Lord Vishnu, while Buddhist priest Jhuma worships the deity as Luwang Garbo, symbolizing religious harmony.

You will officially enter the restricted area of the Upper Mustang Trek. Continue driving along the Kali Gandaki Corridor toward Ghami, crossing the high Syangboche La Pass (3850 m) of the desert of the Annapurna region.

Arrive in Ghami, a remote, ancient village in Nepal’s Upper Mustang region, known for its clustered settlement of traditional mud houses inspired by Tibetan-Buddhist architecture.

The village sits on the bank of the Kali Gandaki River, surrounded by dry hills. Explore Ghami Monastery, Ghami Dzong, and engage in local interaction or monastery participation to better understand Mustang culture.

Ghami is the second-largest village in Upper Mustang, and today is a long drive but a culturally rich day. The drive is along the Syanboche La Pass at 3,860m and descends to Tsarang (Charang).

Visit Ghar Gompa, also called Lo Gekhar Gompa, one of the oldest monasteries in the Upper region of Mustang, and explore Luri Gompa at Ghara/Yara. These ancient monasteries have preserved old paintings, sculptures, culture, and history for centuries in Upper Mustang.

Continue through arid and colorful scenery to Tsarang (Charang). Visit Thubten Shedrup Dhagyeling Monastery, Charang Lekshey Choeling Nunnery, and the Old Royal Palace, reflecting Mustang’s former kingdom era.

Arrive in Lo Manthang, the ancient walled capital of the former Kingdom of Lo. The clustered settlement, Tibetan-Buddhist culture, and old architecture remain remarkably preserved.

Explore the ancient, mysterious Jhong Caves, carved into the red cliffs, man-made caves used for meditation, burial, and shelter. However, these man-made marvels of ancient people on these Red Hills are on the brink of collapse due to climate change.

Once restricted to foreigners until 1992, Lo Manthang is known as the Last Forbidden Kingdom and is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list. Upon approval, it is expected to play a vital role in preserving this ancient kingdom for future generations.

Visit Jampa Lhakhang (God House), Thubchen Monastery, and Chode Monastery. Learn about the Tiji Festival, an annual three-day ritual held in mid-May, celebrating the triumph of good over evil. This three-day celebration is marked by masked dance, Buddhist rituals, and Folklore.

A long and big day as we drive all the way back to Pokhara, retracing the trans-Himalayan corridor. Watch the stark Mustang landscape gradually transform into green valleys, bustling city life, and truly back to city lights. Sipping local Coffee by the lakeside is a different vibe altogether.

Before departure, explore Pokhara. You will explore the natural and spiritual landmarks of the valley, such as visiting Gupteshwor Cave, the World Peace Pagoda, and Pumdikot. These are common destinations for sightseeing near Pokhara city.

Most importantly, majestic views of Machhapuchre (Fishtail peak), the Annapurna ranges, and other snowy peaks. In the evening, take a flight to Kathmandu, concluding the journey in Nepal’s capital.
